Nursery No More
Last Sunday was Riley's very last week of nursery. Next week it's off to Primary and Sunbeams! Holy cow, where has the time gone?
This is Riley on his first day of nursery. February 10th, 2007. We were trying for the "I'm reverent" look, but he was giving us the "this is stupid" look!
This is last Sunday. Riley was wearing his new Christmas suit! Doesn't he look handsome?
In just a few months Emma will be able to start going to nursery! She's getting ready. This is her new Christmas dress. She was so proud to be able to walk all the way to Mommy! I can't believe my babies growing up so fast!
Merry Christmas
We spent Christmas day at my parents' home. We had tons of fun. It was so much fun to have Emmaline awake for the festivities this year. Last year she slept the whole day away, we have no pictures from her first Christmas with her in them! Riley was more interested in opening presents than seeing what was in them. He has been so excited about Christmas, it has made it fun. Emma had tons of fun with every present that she opened.
Santa brought the all important school bus for Riley this year. When asked what he wanted Santa to bring, the answer never wavered. He wanted a school bus. Why? We don't know, but that's what he wanted so that's what he got.
Yes, we left her hair like this all day. It was kinda cute, and I just didn't want to fight with her to get her hair in pig tails. This looked more comfortable! Santa brought Emmaline a stroller so she doesn't have to steal Riley's anymore. The two of them love taking their babies for walks around the house. Well, Riley takes his baby for a run...
My sister wraps most of the gifts every year. She used to wrap gifts at Christmas to raise money for band and got really good at it! It was so pretty that I had to snap a picture of it!
Riley found where the good stuff was stashed... he was very impatient to get on with unwrapping things!
Emma loves her frog. Although she gave every new stuffy this kind of greeting! It was really cute! We had fun putting bows on our little present
I just thought this was so funny! Benson wrapped Mya's gift in a ribbon container that was still full of ribbon! She got a good chuckle over it.
Grandma and Grandpa Leavitt, this is what you got Riley. He LOVES it and we knew it was something you would have picked for him. It's a wooden train set. The pieces will go with the train tracks he has already, and the trains he has can ride the rails. He has been begging to put it up since Christmas, but we wouldn't let him until we moved the tree. We moved the tree tonight, and he happily played with Daddy. Thank you so much for sponsoring our Christmas! It wouldn't have been as magical without your wonderful generosity! We love you guys so much! Thanks so much!
I think she's in love! Riley gave Emma a new doll! She puts both of her dolls into the stroller and walks them all over!
Emma got a purse from Mommy. Now she can stay out of mine! She was so excited about it! She loves the cell phone, and had a whole conversation with Daddy.
This is Emmaline's "you understood me" smile. She is trying so hard to learn to communicate with us. She's walking all over the place. We figure she was just waiting until Grandpa got home before she would walk. She's become a walker so quickly it makes my head spin!
I had to post my dad! He was excited about his new running shoes!
I made my mom a blanket for Christmas this year. I wish I had a picture of her opening it, but she really likes it!
I got a new toys for my cameras: remotes. Allen and the kids got me two different kinds of remotes, one that I plug into my camera and one that is wireless! It is going to be so much fun! We ate lots of yummy food, and enjoyed playing with all the new toys.

A New Family Tradition
This year the Leavitt family meet on Christmas Eve to reenact the nativity story. This was brought to the family from Rachael's family. Every year all the kids reenact the story.
Josh and Rachael decided not to drove up to Lovelock this year with her being about 25 week pregnant, as you can see, and the drive seemed like it would be too much. So, they passed on the tradition to our family. Riley got to be a Shepard with his cousin Jeanie.
Look Alysia, I got a picture of Jean with a super cute smile. It can be done!!!
This is one of several costume changes Riley went through. The costume kept getting less and less, until it was one he could manage... but he kept his little lamb the whole time!
Emma was one of the angels while Allen and his brothers got roped into being wise men.
It was total chaos! But so fun.
Here's a picture of the whole cast... pretty cute huh?
After words, exchanged gifts for the kids, and ate!
It was a wonderful family gathering, and I hope it is a tradition we can carry on. Although, who knows what this new year will bring. The one thing I know is that we aren't going anywhere for at least the next year and half, then we will be all done with law school!!!! YEAH!

Quick Christmas Eve Story
OK, so after the deserter with the Santa pictures at the Springs Preserver, we tried there again... This time, I had my camera and forgot the battery! UGH! And then Santa never came out while we were there! So, on Christmas Eve, Mom and I took the kidos to the Meadow's mall to see Santa. Riley was so excited! He had is little stuffed Rudolf the red nose reindeer with him, and we braved the whole mall to get the Santa booth. We were then told that they had closed the line, and we couldn't see Santa. Riley's little face just fell! I was so angry I could have screamed! They had promised the line would be open until 2 and it was only 1:00... I hate to see my little ones hurting... but I didn't know what to do. He was close to tears the rest of the day, until Papa Claus showed up!
Riley thought this was the funniest thing! He was so happy to get to tell Santa that he had been a good boy and he still wanted a school bus for Christmas.

I love Emma's face! She's not sure what to think about Papa Claus!
Riley had a blast wearing the hat and beard! He ran around the house saying: "HOHOHOHO!" So Papa Claus saved us again! Every time Riley see Papa he thanks him for the Santa Claus presents! Riley love Santa, and now he has his very own Papa Claus who is a Santa helper. How cute is that!

Papa Homecoming
My dad came home for Christmas on December 20th. We went to visit on the 22nd, Mom and Dad stayed at my grandpa's timeshare down at the Tropicana for the weekend. Riley was so funny about the whole thing. To begin with we have been counting down the days until Papa comes home on a paper chain. Then from somewhere Riley got the idea that Santa was bring Papa. He told everyone about that! So on Monday we told Riley we were going to see Papa, he was very concerned. At first he thought we were going to get in an airplane and fly to Qatar, but, and this is according to Riley: "It's night time in Qatar!" We explained that Papa and gotten into an airplane and flown to Vegas, and was at Grandma's house right now. He didn't believe us. It was really cute. When we got to my parents' house, Mom and Dad were in their room. Riley was convinced that we had lied to him, until Papa came around the corner!
I'm not sure who was happier, Riley or Dad? I think Riley felt like he would burst with happiness!
We weren't sure how Emma would react to Grandpa... but as you can see, she was just as happy to see him as Riley! She gave him a long hug!
It's been fun having Dad home! He leaves on the 10th of January... so we get to have a nice long visit. Now, if Mya will just have that baby already!

Winter Lights Festival
Friday was fun. We had fun shopping and playing together as a family. We enjoyed the treats our home teacher brought to us.
Can we say sibling rivalry? Emmaline wanted Riley's chocolate pop... and was crying and pitching quite the fit...
But I gave her one of her own... Then there was peace in the Leavitt home. Do you see how cute she looked in the morning? But that night, she had pulled out both her cute pony tails and looked like she had stuck her finger in a light socket!
We went to the Springs Preserve for their annual winter lights festival. It was really fun! Riley was very excited to ride the little train and to see Santa.
Riley was very worried that the train was leaving without him! We had to wait for 2 turns. But after his ride he was SO happy!
As we were walking away, he said to me: "Mommy, that was a great train ride, Thank you!" I was floored. This was totally unprompted!
Emma had fun on the train too, and being held. She's getting to the stage where if I leave the room she starts to squawk!
I have had a hard time posting about this night because my pictures with Santa got over exposed... and I can't fix them. I've been so sad about it that I just could get myself to write about it. Riley was so cute with Santa! I'm hoping we can go back, maybe tomorrow... and hopeful I can get the flash problem under control! \
I've done my best to try and darken the pictures a little so you can at least see their expressions... Sorry about the quality.

Happy Birthday Demya
Today we celebrated Demya's ____ birthday.
All she really wanted was to not be pregnant anymore, but since none of us can do that for her, we got her some presents instead. Emmaline made her a card, which she proudly gave to her Aunt Mya. We also got her Ella Enchanted, both the movie and the book. I'd had the movie for almost 3 months! It's one of her favs and I knew she didn't have it.
Soren also got her a movie and Mom got her a beautiful pair of amaist earrings.
Benson got her the best gift though: her very own ipod! We had this super yummy chocolate pudding pie for desert! YUMMY!
Tree Trimming
We finally put up our Christmas decorations today. Riley's been asking since the first! We got the tree yesterday, it cute. Our little tree is about 5 feet tall, but really pretty. Riley was so excited he was trying to put the ornaments on this morning before everyone else got up. All in all it turned out very pretty! We let Riley put the star on top.
Emma got to put a few on too.
This is Emmaline putting up "her" ornament. We got it last year and I believe it says: Baby's first Christmas 2007. We have one for each of the kids, which a tradition I kept from my family. Each of us kids had an ornament we put on every year that was from the year we were born. I think my parent took pity on me, both my sibs have one the hospital gave them, having been born around Christmas. But my birthday is in June, so I always had a bell. It doesn't have the year, and I'm not really sure where it came from, but it's mine. I still put that up on my parents' tree.
We played Christmas music and had a fun time putting up all our nativity sets. I have 5: one I put up high; one I'd rather they don't play with but if they do, oh well; and two that are totally kid friendly. We have one from fisher price. It's a little people one, which is so great. All the pieces are plastic, and you can add sets to it each year. The other is a couple of wood sets I've collected.
OK, my dorkhood has never been in question, so, isn't this cool! We were playing around with some of the setting on my camera, and figured out how to delay the shutter. This is the resulting picture, no flash, and pretty twinkles! I think it's so pretty!
It was so much fun!
