Train Ride!

Today we went out to Boulder City to ride the train. It's really cool. It's a restored train, that takes you along the track from Boulder to Railroad pass. We had a ton of fun. This was the ending activity for our week about trains. Riley was so excited! It was really nice weather too, we had light rain so it wasn't too hot. Riley wore his overalls that I made him with the train buttons, he insisted on it. He was so cute! On board the train are several docents, dressed like conductors, to answer any questions you might have. They are also very sweet and will take pictures of your family for you. On the way up to Railroad Pass, we rode in one of the coach cars. It looked just like you would imagine from the time period. The seats were set so that pairs of seats looked at each other. This picture is for Papa Peterson: Riley wanted to show him his ticket! We moved to another train car on the way back. This one had lots of room. They had a few waiting room chairs set up and lots of room to run. Riley found a couple of friends. A little boy that was tuning 3 that day and a little girl that was 4. The three kids ran around and around. First to one window, then another, and back again. Then they played a little "can't catch me!" thing. It was really cute! After the ride, Allen took Emmaline and went into the gift shop to buy a few odds and ends. I took Riley to see the rest of the trains. They were huge! The steam engine's wheel was taller than he was! I guess I never realized how big those trains could be! We got Riley a engineer's hat and a little train. We also bought a book called "The Little Red Caboose"

By this time it was time for lunch. We had brought a cooler with some food in it... but we weren't sure if the 5 small slices of pizza we had brought would be enough. Plus, A&W was just calling our names. Allen loves A&W root beer! We enjoyed lunch and then headed home. Emmaline didn't make it very far before she was fast asleep. This was a fun way to end our week about trains! TOOT! TOOT!
