Leavitt Family Reunion

Fun weekend! We went up to Panguitch Lake in Utah. Allen's family was having a family reunion. We left Vegas around 5:30pm Friday. We reached the cabins around midnight. Riley and Emma had slept since about 8:30. We were really hoping that they would stay asleep. Ha! Riley woke right after we got there, needing to pee. He did go back to sleep relatively quickly. Emmaline, on the other hand... UGH. She was having tummy trouble, and couldn't relax enough to nurse without hurting me...We were staying in a cabin with both of Allen's brothers and their families. Brigham and his wife have a little girl named Faith, who is exactly 2 months younger than Emmaline. Emma, when we tried to put her to bed, started to cry. Her crying woke up Faith. You see a pattern starting... Both daddies started to walk the floor with their little girls. The little girls were so excited to see each other. It was like they couldn't believe that someone their size was real. It was very cute. They would reach out to each other, Emma would try to hug Faith, and Faith would grab Emma's clothes. It would have have been even better, had it not been 2 am. Finally, Emma got tired and we were finally able to go to sleep around 2:30... Faith was up at 6. A very short night! The next morning while the breakfast was being made, the kids checked out the little playground that was near the cabins. Riley fell off the swings and scraped up his chin. He has a bunch of little cuts on his chin, but nothing that would require stitches. Now he has nice battle wound. This was the first of many bumps and bruises for the day. I think it may have been that he was really tired, or maybe that he was so excited to have so much family around, but he was just accident prone.
That afternoon we enjoyed a slow boat ride around the lake. While waiting for the boat to be ready, the kids played fetch with the owner dog. I think that may have been more fun than the boat ride!
Emmaline had to wear one of those baby life jackets. She hated it! But after a time, she gave up and fell asleep in my arms. It was really cute. She's the little white bundle on my lap.
Riley enjoyed driving the boat. He kept say "Vroom, Vroom!" He hated having to wait his turn to drive, ending up last in the group. But Daddy kept him busy by pulling out their favorite activity: KITES! This was a wonderful idea, all the kids wanted to take a turn holding the kite. It was really cool. The kite was a Mikey Mouse blow up kite my Aunt Beth sent to us. It was so easy to use! After the boat ride, we tried to get Riley to take a nap. It didn't work, but we did enjoy some quite time. Allen read stories to the kids, and I took a much need rest. When I got up, I snapped some super cute pictures of Riley playing with his cousins. He had so much fun! He ran every where, played tether ball, picked flowers, found pretty rocks, etc. Some our more memorable moments of the this weekend had to do with Riley's potty training. He has now peed off the side of a boat, and in the woods. I suppose these are very important skills to learn, for a future scout... During the boat ride, he announced that he had to pee, Allen tried to help pee over the side of the boat, but he was too scared. After several attempts, Riley peed off the side of the boat, felt much better and was so proud! It was really funny. Later, after dinner, he dropped his pants in the cabin area and let it fly. It was so embarrassingly funny. But makes for wonderful memories. We laughed so hard, the whole family was there. He was told that to pee in the great out doors, you must find a more private place. Emma was really very cute this weekend. She's starting to get kinda clingy, and really noticing when Mommy leaves. She was so tired, she fell asleep as dinner was being prepared. Of course, she woke up just as Allen was bringing me my plate of food. I swear that girl has a hollow leg. She ate almost half my food. Which is fine, she needs the calories more than me! It was such a fun weekend! We finished the evening playing games after we got Riley and Emmaline to bed. It was fun to watch the siblings having fun together! More pictures are in the slide show in my previous posting. Enjoy!
