On April 3rd I took the kids to the Boulder City Train.

Grandma and Grandpa Peterson came too.

We couldn't believe how cool it was to be on a real train...One of the conductors even let Riley try on his hat!

Things were pretty peaceful, but we started to notice a couple of people wearing strange clothes, and carrying guns...

Beka was scared. It's OK Beka, Mommy's here.
(Alright, not really.. she was just hungry, but it sounds better for the story to say she was scared)
But everything is going to be fine, because the marshal and his deputies are on board.

Hmmm, this shady guy sat down next to us. He kept talking about how he was into high stakes banking. Wonder what he's up to?

Hey, what's this guy up too? What does he have under the white blanket? Is that a gun? He looks pretty scary!

Good thing we have Grandpa around. He makes Beka feel better!

We heard commotion from the front of the train... What's going on? Oh, no those bad guys are trying to steal the money from the train! A gun battle ensues.
(by the way, this was SOOOOOO cool!)

Oh dear, the bad guys ran out of ammo. They lose! Yeah for the marshal!

Those bad guys, they just didn't give up though. All the way back to Boulder Station they were trying to escape. But they were always foiled by the marshal or his deputies!

Riley wasn't sure what to make of all this commotion!

Hee hee! What a fun afternoon. The kids had so much fun riding the train, and the grownups enjoyed the show. The actors for the reenactment were so nice. This guy was the leader of the robbers. He was so sweet, he came and sat next to us afterward and took pictures.

And yes the beard is real!

These folks are part of an old west reenactment group. They have festivals and meetings. Some of them even live the lifestyle all year long. Hmm, well good for them. As for me I'd miss my camera, computer, microwave and AC way too much!

Thanks Mom and Dad for joining us on our Wild West Adventure!!!
